The relationship between a nonprofit board president and the counterpart executive staff member is so key to the success of the organization that it should not be left to chance. This program allows nonprofit board and staff leaders to build relationships and tackle, together, some of the most pressing issues facing the organization.
The program consists of the following:

What happens in each session?
The Winning Partnership is divided into 6 sessions held with both partners and covering (but not limited to) some of the following nonprofit areas:
Session 1: Introduction/Leadership
Setting the stage for the sessions. Introductions from a leadership and management perspective. Looking at leadership style feedback. Creating a list of specific areas to be explored.
Session 2: Strategic Planning
Review mission/vision/purpose and primary audience, as well as the goals and objectives of the strategic plan. Build specific deliverables around the plan, prioritize them, and determine who will take responsibility. Review timelines and determine how success will be measured.
Session 3: Board Dynamic and Governance
Discuss elements of the right board for the organization and examine what governance structure makes sense. Why is a written position description important? What should it include? Explore committees and task forces, succession planning, position descriptions, onboarding, and orientation. Explore policy, procedure, compliance, and accountability.
Session 4: General Operations
Review the current infrastructure including staffing model, volunteer management systems, and financial basics such as budgeting, reporting, funds (reserve, capital, endowment), fiscal controls, taxes, and audits. Review program and service development and delivery. Ensure that the standards of excellence in nonprofits, nonprofit best practices, are being followed.
Session 5: Revenue/Fundraising
Review the budget process. Sustainability requires sufficient and growing fiscal support. Explore all revenue streams and the fundraising process, including back-office data support (CRM/Donor database), the stewardship program, and the role of the board in fundraising.
Session 6: Open Session Topic
A summary session or an opportunity to focus on specific issues as determined by the client.
